An interview with Raffaele Montefusco, Concierge at the Hotel Regina Isabella in Ischia and a member of the Golden Keys Association of Hotel Concierges in Campania.

Is being a concierge simply a job or a calling?

Definitely a calling! The concierge is a 360 degree reference for the clientele, it’s a role that must be carried out with passion.

What is the most interesting part of your job?

Having contact with guests, being their point of reference in a discreet, non-invasive manner.

Which nationality tourists do you prefer?

I am very curious about Russians. They area relatively young clientele who have been attending our hotels for over a decade. I would like to learn about their customs, their way of living and being, their world. But guests are all to be preferred, regardless of their nationality.

Why visit Ischia during the summer?

I may be a bit biased, but I think Ischia is one of the most beautiful places in the world.

What about during the winter?

Even better! Winter tranquility makes it spectacular.

What is the main feature of the Regina Isabella?

The luxury it offers, which today means making guests always feel at home. At one time, the parameters of the 5 star Hotels were the width of the corridors, the amplitude of the rooms, the services offered at all hours. Now luxury is hospitality, it means satisfying every customer's desire.
