Giuseppe Verdi’s opera in three acts set to an Italian libretto by Francesco Maria Piave returns to enthrall audiences at Teatro San Carlo.
Based on ‘The Lady of the Camellias’, a play adapted from the novel by Alexandre Dumas, it is part of a ‘popular trilogy’ which includes “Il Trovatore” and “Rigoletto”. The version staged at San Carlo is directed by Ferzan Ozpetek, with co-direction by Marina Bianchi. Scenery by Dante Ferretti and costumes by Alessandro Lai.
