Claudio Argenziano, who manages the company with his wife Gabriella Monetti, tells us about the restyling of the headquarters in Via dei Mille and the secret of the success of one of the oldest shops of the city

Last October the jeweler Monetti, one of the oldest shops in Naples, renewed its headquarters in Via dei Mille. “Where” interviewed Claudio Argenziano, now running the company with his wife, Gabriella Monetti.

What kind of changes have been made to the jewelry shop?

The most striking change made to the shop, is the ability to access the upper floor. Before, customers left their watches at the entrance. Now, they are taken upstairs where, with the new laboratory, they can personally see the very high technology used and the specialized technicians. Not only: in the space adjacent to the first floor we have created a warm private atmosphere, a cozy and secluded place that ensures customers a completely exclusive purchasing experience.

The jewelry has been open since 1901. Can you tell us its story?

In the early twentieth century, the name Monetti was already synonymous of high-class watchmaking: in particular, those who sought the pocket exemplary, the most exclusive wrist model, were certain it could be found only in Via Santa Brigida, 60. In the mid-50s, Guglielmo Monetti passed on the business to his sons, Guglielmo and Ugo, who expanded the jewelry offer and transformed the shop into an increasingly unique selling point. In 1954 a store in Rome, in via delle Convertite, was opened, always favoring the high watchmaking and professionalism of the staff. In 1968, a second store was opened in Naples, in Via dei Mille, the most prestigious street of the city.

What is the secret to the business’s success?

The desire to continuously innovate and anticipate customer needs. Our business is characterized by professionalism and by the prestigious environments of the two stores, in line with the Rolex brand, which we always have represented in Naples.
